WE EMBRACE LBGTQ CLIENTS
Many members of the LGBTQ community worry that they will not be able to find LGBT recovery centers tailored to meet their individual needs. They may be less comfortable entering traditional recovery programs. However, here at Destination Hope, we welcome all gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender and questioning clients in a comfortable, safe and understanding environment.
Drug addiction causes suffering among users and loved ones of addicts alike, but statistics show that the LGBT community, in particular, is afflicted by higher rates of substance abuse. According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, overall rates of substance abuse among the LGBT community are higher than in the heterosexual community.

The core program is usually 14-15 months and offers classes to become a Certified Addiction Professional (CAP), Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC), Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT), Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS), and a Certified Recovery Residence Administrator (CRRA). In addition to earning an addiction certification, treatment centers around South Florida regularly send clinicians to earn continuing education credits. The program offers online courses as well as in-classroom locations in Fort Lauderdale. Men and Women’s Mature Adult Program
The Mature Adult Program (MAP) is dedicated to older adults with similar life interests and ages so they can receive the best clinical treatment based on their individual needs and lifestyle. The rehab program offers dual-diagnosis treatment for adults of roughly 35 years and older who would benefit clinically from a specialized treatment plan in a community of like-minded and mature individuals. MAP’s creation stems from numerous requests from the outside community, industry research, and the evaluation of the interaction between a wide-range of ages and interests of the clients. Mature adults find it sometimes difficult to relate to younger clients, which may hinder their ability to maximize treatment services. MAP is designed in response to that need. The comfort level is enhanced with peer-to-peer related groups and their ability to participate in informative discussions is enhanced by the relative subject matter and life experience.
