Our Drug Rehabilitation Program Process

As you settle in, you can begin to work on your recovery right away!
Psychotherapy is the main treatment method of our drug rehabilitation program as it often proves to be the most effective treatment method for substance abuse and addiction. It serves to help you uncover your personal underlying reasons behind your addiction so you can experience important breakthroughs that offer moments of clarity and insights – key for reaching a strong and stable recovery. The sessions are practiced in a number of methods – one-on-one, family, group and cognitive behavioral therapy. Each has its own special benefits and helps you in its own way.
Specific Treatment Components
Medical Detox: Provides 24/7 medical supervision in a hospital-like setting to safely manage withdrawal symptoms, clear the body of substances, and achieve physical stabilization before transitioning to psychological work.
Individual Therapy: Serves as the foundation of the treatment process. Patients work one-on-one with a therapist using evidence-based practices—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI)—to uncover root causes, change negative thought patterns, and process trauma.
Group Sessions: Considered the “backbone” of the residential and outpatient phases. These sessions harness the power of peer support to build community, establish accountability, and allow patients to relate to shared experiences.
Family Therapy: Focuses on healing strained relationships, improving communication systems, and educating loved ones on addiction and mental health. This helps the family work through resentment and establishes a supportive home environment for the patient’s ongoing recovery.
Aftercare Planning & Support: An ongoing component designed to ensure long-term success and prevent relapse. It includes detailed step-down planning, vocational rehabilitation services, connections to local support networks (like NAMI or 12-step meetings), continued access to therapists for check-ins, and an active alumni program.
Typical Program Duration & Structure
Destination Hope utilizes a “continuum of care” model, meaning patients step down into less restrictive, more flexible environments as they stabilize and progress in their recovery:
Detoxification: * Duration: Typically 5 to 10 days (depending on the substance and individual factors).
Structure: Highly rigid, 24/7 medically monitored care focused heavily on physical stabilization with limited therapeutic activities.
Residential / Inpatient Treatment:
Duration: Typically 30 to 90 days. (Note: Mental health-specific stays are often more fluid and driven by clinical progress, typically taking 4 to 6 weeks just for psychiatric medications to reach therapeutic levels).
Structure: Immersive and highly structured. Patients live at the facility and participate in full days of clinical programming, which includes individual therapy, group processing, educational workshops, and holistic activities without outside distractions.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP):
Duration: Typically 2 to 4 weeks.
Structure: A step down from residential care. Patients attend comprehensive day treatment for 5 to 6 hours a day, 5 to 7 days a week, but return home or to a sober living environment in the evenings.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP):
Duration: Typically 8 to 12 weeks.
Structure: Designed to bridge the gap to independent living. Patients attend sessions 3 to 5 days per week for 3 to 4 hours per day (minimum of 9 hours per week). Destination Hope offers daytime and evening tracks to accommodate clients returning to work, school, or family responsibilities.
Standard Outpatient: * Duration: Varies widely from several months to ongoing support.
Structure: Highly flexible; typically consists of 1 to 2 individual or group therapy sessions per week to maintain long-term recovery.
Trusted Care
To ensure the highest standard of care and build trust with patients and their families, Destination Hope maintains rigorous national and state-level accreditations. The facility has earned the prestigious Joint Commission (JCAHO) Gold Seal of Approval, a designation reserved for treatment centers that consistently meet strict performance standards and demonstrate a track record of exceptional patient safety and quality care. In addition to JCAHO accreditation, they are fully licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA). Treatment is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of credentialed professionals—including board-certified medical staff for detox supervision, licensed mental health counselors, and specialized addiction therapists. By relying on highly qualified clinicians and evidence-based modalities, Destination Hope significantly improves patient engagement and long-term treatment outcomes, minimizing the risk of the “revolving door” relapse cycle often associated with inadequate dual-diagnosis care.
