What is Alcoholism Treatment?

Table of Contents

Alcohol treatment is the process of detoxification and rehabilitation for those who are addicted to alcohol or who abuse it. Alcoholism rates are unfortunately quite high in the United States, due in part to the fact that alcohol is a commonly available addictive substance. The fine line between proper consumption and substance abuse is all too easily crossed, and sometimes individuals come to realize that they have a substance abuse problem and need help.

It’s never too late to seek treatment for substance abuse or alcoholism and Destination Hope has a wide variety of custom tailored programs to fit your particular needs.

What are the steps in alcoholism treatment?

First of all, it is essential that you admit that there is a problem. Without this first step, it would be very difficult to continue successfully.  Once this difficult admission has been made, the alcoholic then needs to choose the best rehab program for their needs in order to put them back on the path to a normal life and long-term sobriety.

Once they are in the alcohol treatment program, the alcoholic client must then go through a professionally supervised detox to rid their body of the abused substance. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and the process can last anywhere between three and seven days.

Following the detox program, the client then receives counseling and help with recovery from their licensed alcohol rehab facility (such as Destination Hope). This will help them to remain sober and teach them how to cope with the countless temptations and triggers outside of the safe confines of the treatment center. Treatment programs may last 30, 60 or 90 days, depending on the client’s needs, and their programs are uniquely tailored to the individual and their circumstances.

An alcohol treatment gives alcoholics the tools they need in order to live healthy, balanced, sober lives, free from the grip of addiction. Once the treatment center program is finished, however, they are not left to fend for themselves, without support or guidance. An alcoholic needs to work very hard to stay on track, and treatment centers like Destination Hope also provide support groups and family therapy groups for their graduates. Recovering alcoholics are also encouraged to attend regular Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings, providing them with a solid support network for their ongoing sobriety.

If you or a woman you love is having problems with drug abuse, alcohol dependency or mental illness, women’s drug rehab may be the answer.  Remember that recovery from addiction and alcohol abuse treatment means learning how to cope with intensely emotional situations, and identifying when you need help and support.  Treatment for addiction relapse, counseling and aftercare can help you do this, so please call us today.  Destination Hope is a full service addiction and women’s health treatment facility in Florida for women who suffer from substance abuse and behavioral health issues.
