Although 1 in 4 people experience some type of mental illness each year, and 1 in 17 lives with a serious condition such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, many go untreated due to the stigma attached to mental illness. Ben Brafman, founder and CEO of Destination Hope has been fighting the stigma attached to mental health disorders for 22 years. Mental illness in women is something that used to be a taboo topic a few decades ago.  Today, we know that mental illness affects men and women throughout the world.  We know that mental illness affects people differently and that like other health conditions, men and women have different risks, symptoms, and even different treatments.
