Sticking with It: How to Not Quit Your Florida Drug Rehab Early

Table of Contents

Florida drug rehab can be very challenging and sticking with the program until the end can be tricky. Maybe you find yourself counting down the days until you are done. This is fine as long as you are not intentionally sabotaging your treatment by not paying attention, avoiding the work, isolating yourself or being defiant, angry or afraid. Use these tips for staying strong in the program throughout the duration of Florida drug rehab.

1. Bring Up Any Strong or Troubling Emotions with Your Counselors/Therapists.

Do not keep troubling emotions to yourself. Speak to a counselor or therapist about how you are feeling because troubled emotions such as anger can do severe harm to your recovery process. They can help you work through these emotions to get to a healthier state of mind.

2. Recognize That You Need to Adapt at Florida Drug Rehab.

You won’t instantly feel comfortable at Florida drug rehab. Give yourself time to adapt to all of the schedules, the monitoring, plans and regimentation that are a part of the program rather than getting angry and giving up.

3. Don’t Lie to Yourself and Believe You’re Recovered Before Finishing Treatment.

It is a common occurrence that clients will start to tell themselves and others in the program that they are recovered. You may feel much, much better and significantly stronger than when you first arrived to Florida drug rehab but this does not mean that you are recovered. Your recovery requires the benefits of actively participating in treatment for the entire duration of the program.

Remember that recovery is a process and not a destination. You will continue to work on your recovery everyday on your own even long after the program has been completed. Leaving treatment early sends the message that you believe you are “cured” and it does not set you up for building good recovery habits for after the program. There is no cure for addiction. Recovery provides the means for leading a healthier and more productive life as well as abstinence from substance use.

4. Remind Yourself Why You Went to Rehab in the First Place.

When the going gets tough for you in treatment, stick it out for success. Think about why you went to Florida drug rehab and think about all that you have been through because of your addiction. Finding the strength and will to get through the treatment program can bring you wonderful results for the short and long-term future.
