Leann Rimes Enters Rehab for Stress and Anxiety Treatment

Table of Contents

Singer LeAnn Rimes checked herself into a 30-day stress and anxiety treatment program shortly after her 30th birthday to deal with stress and anxiety issues. Although there have been rumors circulating about the possibility of Rimes seeking eating disorder treatment, her spokesman has denied that Leann Rimes will be receiving any treatment for an eating disorder or substance abuse, only that she has entered rehab for stress and anxiety treatment.

Tabloids and magazines have questioned Leann Rimes’ body image in the past several months, questioning whether the popular singer is suffering from an eating disorder.  Although Leann Rimes has never admitted to suffering from an eating disorder, she does admit to being under severe stress and anxiety as a result of her career and home life.  Eating disorders can be made worse by stress and anxiety, and in many cases stress and anxiety treatment coupled with eating disorder treatment can help a woman learn to cope with intense pressure and stress.

Some fans also feel that Leann Rimes has looked dangerously thin in recent days, and fans on Twitter have voiced their concern over photographs that surfaced on the Internet. Her weight has fluctuated in recent years, and her thin frame recently has led some to believe she may be suffering from anorexia or another eating disorder.

Marcel Pariseau, Leann Rimes’ spokesman, recently told People Magazine that, “LeAnn has voluntarily entered a 30-day in-patient treatment facility to cope with anxiety and stress. While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms.”

The singer herself echoed these same sentiments, saying she is only looking for stress and anxiety treatment. “This is just time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and be back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be.”

Linking Stress and Anxiety Treatment with Eating Disorder Treatment

Many women, especially those that are under intense public pressure to perform, are unable to develop healthy coping mechanisms for stress. Eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating can manifest as a result of the stress and anxiety celebrities face.  Women who are not in the public limelight may suffer under the same intense pressure to perform at work, at home, or to juggle a career and family.  Eating disorder treatment involves addressing the underlying issues, like depression or anxiety, that can cause an eating disorder, as well as help a woman develop a toolbox of techniques and coping mechanisms to help them address triggers in the future. Behavioral therapy, used in stress and anxiety treatment, is very successful at helping women overcome an eating disorder, stress, and anxiety issues.
