Levels of Care

A complete continuum of clinical care.

Treatment moves through five levels of care. We guide clients seamlessly through five distinct levels of care as their needs evolve, with the same dedicated clinical team carrying them from start to finish.

  1. 1

    Medical Detox

Medically supervised withdrawal, coordinated with a partner detox facility, for alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and stimulants.

  2. 2

    Residential / Inpatient

24-hour care at our Tamarac, FL facility. The most intensive level of inpatient care available here.

  3. 3

    PHP

Immersive daily clinical programming. Clients in our PHP program may live at home or choose to live on campus, returning to the clinical floor each day.

  4. 4

    IOP

A minimum of 9 hours per week in a focused daytime clinical schedule. An ideal step-down from PHP or starting point for stable clients.

  5. 5

    Aftercare & Alumni

Ongoing therapy and support, plus weekly Saturday alumni meetings, in-person and on Zoom, led by Josh Gray.

Dual diagnosis runs through every level. Whether you start in detox or aftercare, addiction and mental health are treated as one diagnosis, not two parallel tracks. The clinical team adjusts your level as you progress.

Which level is right for you?

Three quick questions. The result is a recommendation, not a diagnosis. Admissions makes the final call after a clinical screen.

  1. Question 1 · Medical needs

Are you currently using a substance with a dangerous withdrawal profile (alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids), or actively in withdrawal?

    • Yes. Detox is likely your starting point.

    • No. Continue.

  2. Question 2 · Home environment

Is your home environment safe and free of active substance use, with people who can support recovery?

    • No. Residential or PHP is likely the right starting point.

    • Yes. Continue.

  3. Question 3 · Daily commitments

Do you need to maintain work, school, or caregiving while in treatment?

    • Yes. IOP is likely the right level.

    • No. PHP gives you more clinical hours per week without the inpatient stay.

The next step is a confidential admissions call. Our coordinators run a short clinical screen and confirm or adjust the recommendation.

Aftercare and the alumni community

Treatment ends; recovery doesn’t. Destination Hope’s aftercare program runs indefinitely for anyone who has gone through any level of care here. Alumni meet weekly on Saturdays from 7 to 8 PM, both in person at the Tamarac facility and on Zoom for clients who’ve moved home.

Josh Gray leads the group and runs Q&A sessions, special events, and the active alumni Facebook group.
